This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is never uploaded, and you can verify that in your browser's network tab. Verify it yourself: open your browser's network tab and watch. You will see one small request asking whether you have tasks left - a tool name and a hash, never the file.
What this does
Reordering rebuilds a document with its pages in a sequence you choose. Nothing is re-rendered, so this costs nothing in quality and very little in file size.
Use it when the content is right but the sequence is not: a scan that came out back to front, a merged document where one section landed in the wrong place, an appendix that belongs at the end rather than the middle, or a form where the signature page needs to lead.
How it works
- Drop the PDF onto this page and wait for the page count.
- Type the finished order. It reads left to right, so 3, 1, 2 puts page three first.
- Leave append missing pages on if you are only moving a few pages, so the rest follow in their original order.
- Press Reorder.
- The download starts immediately.
The order expression accepts ranges as well as single pages, and ranges may run backwards. Typing 10-1 reverses a ten-page document; typing 1, 5-8, 2-4 moves a block forward without listing every page individually. This is faster than dragging for anything longer than a handful of pages, and unlike dragging it works from a keyboard.
Append missing pages is on by default, and it is the safety net that stops this tool from quietly losing content. With it on, typing 5 moves page five to the front and leaves everything else in place behind it. With it off, typing 5 produces a one-page document - occasionally what you want, but never what you want by accident.
Repeating a page number repeats the page. Unlike a selection, where duplicates are collapsed, the order expression honours them, so 1, 1, 2 really does produce the first page twice.
Bookmarks are re-pointed at wherever their target page ended up, so a table of contents keeps working after a reshuffle instead of sending readers to the wrong chapter.
Questions people ask
- How do I write the new order?
- List pages and ranges in the order you want them, separated by commas. 3, 1, 2 reorders three pages. 1, 8-12, 2-7 moves a block forward. 10-1 reverses a ten-page document. Ranges may count downward, which is often the shortest way to express a reversal.
- What happens to pages I do not mention?
- With append missing pages on, they follow in their original relative order after the pages you named. With it off, they are dropped and the document contains only what you listed - useful for rebuilding, dangerous by accident, which is why it defaults to on.
- Can I repeat a page?
- Yes. Any page number can appear more than once and the page is copied each time. If you want many copies of a set of pages, Duplicate pages is a more direct way to say it.
- Do bookmarks still work afterwards?
- Yes, they are re-pointed at the pages' new positions. If a page appears twice, its bookmarks point at the first occurrence.
